Create Document From Text

Create a native Google document from plain text.

Inputs

InputTypeHow to use it
AccountAccountChoose a saved Google Docs connector from this organization. Create or reconnect it in Settings > Connectors. Do not enter an API key, password or email address here.
Foldergoogle drive folderSelect the destination Drive folder or supply its folder ID, not a sharing link. The account needs permission to add items there.
File NametextThe display name for the new item, such as Meeting notes. This does not choose a file format.
Contenttext boxPlain text for the new Google document, including any line breaks. This is not HTML, a PDF or a file download.

Result

An object with fileId, name, mimeType and webViewLink. Optional fields can be absent when Google does not provide them.

Example

Account: choose your Google Docs connector. Folder: folder-id; File Name: Meeting notes; Content: Agenda and discussion points.

Errors and limits

The account needs permission to create files in the folder. A filename extension does not change the created Google-document format. Check for an existing document before retrying. Reconnect the matching app in Settings if the connection is unavailable. Check the resource IDs and required read or edit permissions. Wait after provider rate limiting. Use live data is required; isolated tests and live debugging cannot contact these services. Provider requests time out after 30 seconds. Google responses are limited to 16 MiB.

Append Text to Document

Append text at the end of the document's main body.

Inputs

InputTypeHow to use it
AccountAccountChoose a saved Google Docs connector from this organization. Create or reconnect it in Settings > Connectors. Do not enter an API key, password or email address here.
Documentgoogle docs documentSelect the Google document or supply its document ID from the /document/d/ part of its address. Do not pass the full sharing link.
Text To Appendtext boxPlain text to add before the document's final newline. Include your own spaces or line breaks between old and new text.

Result

No value is returned on success. Text is inserted before the final newline; the revised document text is not returned.

Example

Account: choose your Google Docs connector. Document: document-id; Text To Append: New notes followed by a line break.

Errors and limits

This targets the main body and may not support documents structured only as tabs. Repeating an append adds the text again; inspect the document after an uncertain result.

Get a Documents Content

Read top-level body paragraphs as plain text.

Result

One text value joining the main body's paragraph text in order, or empty text when none is found. Tables and document tabs are not collected; use Get all document content for those.

Example

Account: choose your Google Docs connector. Document: document-id.

Errors and limits

An empty result can mean the text is inside tables or tabs. Use Get all document content for nested structures.

Get a Document

Read a document's Drive metadata without reading its text.

Result

An object with fileId, name, createdTime, modifiedTime, size, mimeType and webViewLink. size is Google's text value in bytes and may be absent for native Google documents.

Example

Account: choose your Google Docs connector. Document: document-id.

Errors and limits

Use a content-reading command when you need the document body rather than file details.

Delete a document

Permanently delete a Google document.

Result

No value is returned on success. The document file is deleted.

Example

Account: choose your Google Docs connector. Use a disposable document: Document: test-document-id.

Errors and limits

Confirm the ID and deletion permission. A missing-document response on retry may mean the first deletion succeeded.

Get all document content

Read text across tabs, nested tables and tables of contents.

Inputs

InputTypeHow to use it
AccountAccountChoose a saved Google Docs connector from this organization. Create or reconnect it in Settings > Connectors. Do not enter an API key, password or email address here.
DocumenttextSelect the Google document or supply its document ID from the /document/d/ part of its address. Do not pass the full sharing link.

Result

One text value joined in document order. Tabs are read when present; otherwise the main body is used. Empty documents return empty text. Formatting, images and other non-text content are not included.

Example

Account: choose your Google Docs connector. Document: document-id.

Errors and limits

Limits are 20 nesting levels, 20,000 visited elements and the provider response size limit. Simplify or split a document if its content exceeds these limits.

Test safely

Isolated tests and live debugging do not call connected providers. Enable Use live data only when you intend to contact the account. Writes, messages and AI requests can change real data or incur provider charges. A successful connection check does not prove access to every action. These examples explain the command contract; they are not evidence of a completed live provider request.
